Before we get too many days past the recent flooding (and the memory fades a bit), I would like to thank our local first responders for their work over the past week.
It’s not an easy job dealing with any emergencies, much less one with rising water and flooding streets. It’s long hours often soaked through from the rain and flooded streets. And it’s a constant challenge to keep up with the ever changing conditions, which all needs to be relayed on to the people in the community.
So thank you – to our EMA team, the city and county first responders, mayors Bill Newman and Michael Whisenant, the churches that opened as shelters, and all the volunteers who made sure everyone in our town was taken care of. I know I for one will be raising a glass to you all.
– Jim from Fayetteville
