January County Commission Recap

The County Commission started 2019 with a few changes to the Zoning Resolution to accommodate the hiring of the new county building inspector – Charles Hunter.

The January Commission meeting agenda can be found here. You’ll find the FPU livestream of the meeting below.

Here’s the votes cast:

  • Approval of rezoning request for Successus, LLC (a.k.a. Hyde Homes) – passed unanimously.
  • Approval to amend the Zoning Resolution to adopt new building codes – passed unanimously.
  • Approval to amend the Zoning Resolution to adopt new fees – failed to pass on the first vote with Commissioners Reavis, Guin, Hunter, Britt, Taylor, Douglas, and Jean voting for approval. Commissioners expressed discomfort with the proposed new fees at $118 per square foot. In an immediate follow-up vote, commissioners did approve a motion by Commissioner Bryant at $88 per square foot. This motion passed with only Commissioners Reavis, Guin, Taylor, and Jean voting no.
  • Approval for the Sheriff’s Department to donate a 2013 Chevy Tahoe to EMS – passed unanimously.

Mark your calendars for next month’s meeting on Tuesday February 19th at 6pm.
