Downtown merchants are decking out the square with green for St. Patrick’s Day. Organized by the Fayetteville Merchants Square Events, Go Green is set for Saturday March 17th. Organizers promise an even bigger event than last year filled with live music, food trucks, and lots of sales.
What You Need to Know
On the courthouse gazebo, Kim and Jane Caulfield kick things off with yarn spinning activities from 10-11:30am. That’s followed by live entertainment featuring the Stillwater Bluegrass Band from 12-2pm. Make sure to bring a yard chair and enjoy your favorite bluegrass and gospel music.
If you’re looking for some delicious food, Two Hicks with Sticks BBQ and Mama’s J’s will be set up at Gowan’s on South Main Street. The Local Cafe and other restaurants on the square plan to stay open late.
Participating stores will have green balloons outside their door. Every store is different, with discounts ranging from 10% all the way up to 50% off.
More Events to Come
Go Green kicks off the first of many more events planned by the Fayetteville Merchants Square Events group. At the end of the month, a Hop-to-Shop event is set for Easter weekend.
It’s all part of an effort to bring more people to the square on the weekends.
“We have to pull together and work together to create something that gives Fayetteville a draw.”
