The Elk Valley Times and the Fayetteville Weekly are partnering to host a
forum for the upcoming election for Lincoln County mayor.
The forum, to be moderated by Lucy Williams of The Times and Chase Clemons of the Fayetteville Weekly, is set for Monday, June 11, at 6 p.m. in the Fayetteville Municipal Auditorium.
Both candidates for county mayor, incumbent Bill Newman and challenger
Rick Head, have accepted the two publications’ invitations to participate
in the forum.
The two candidates will be given an opportunity to introduce themselves
and then answer questions on a variety of issues, including community
growth, government transparency and accountability, and their vision for
the future of Lincoln County.
Residents of the county are encouraged to send in questions they would
like to see asked. Email your questions to Williams at firstname.lastname@example.org or
Clemons at email@example.com by June 1. You may also mail
your questions or hand-deliver them to The Elk Valley Times, c/o Forum
Questions, 418 Elk Avenue North, Fayetteville, TN 37334. Williams and
Clemons will select from questions submitted those that will be posed
during the forum.
In addition, residents are also invited to attend the forum, to be held in
the auditorium of the Fayetteville Municipal Building located on the east
side of the city square. The forum will also be carried on each of the
publication’s websites. Fayetteville Public Utilities’ Channel 6, WYTM and
WEKR have also been invited to broadcast the forum.
Election day for the Lincoln County General Election will be held on Aug.
