County Budget for FY 2018 – 2019

This week, the County Budget Committee voted to send the FY 2018-2019 budget to the full commission for a vote. Most notably, the budget includes a $0.14 increase in property taxes, which works out to a 6% increase in current property tax rates. On a property valued at $115,000, this works out to be an extra $40/year.

The increase funds seven new school resource officers (SROs), who will be placed in each of the county schools. The budget also includes security improvements to school facilities as well as a 2% raise for county employees.

You can find the draft budget being sent to the commission below. Previous property tax rates can be found here.

Update: After deferring the vote in June, Commissioners now vote on Tuesday July 17th. Make sure to call or email your commissioner before then to share your thoughts on the budget. Contact info can be found on the commission’s website here.
